Obituary for Betty Fairchild (Anderson)
Betty Anderson Fairchild, 82, of West Hartford, CT died peacefully on June 7, 2021 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born September 18, 1938 in Jonkoping, Sweden, to the late Laura and Oscar Anderson. Betty graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford and went on to receive her associates degree from Lasell University in Boston.
Betty spent most of her professional career working as an executive secretary for Connecticut Mutual. Her faith and sense of service was a constant in her life along with her love for Emanuel Lutheran Church, where she served several terms on the Council and served as President. Betty was also very active with Center City Churches (Hands on Hartford), and the New England Synod for many years. Betty was celebrated for her dedication to the synod in 2009 when she received the Soli Deo Gloria award.
Betty will be remembered for her dedication to her three sons and six grandsons. She had a smile that would light a room and a never ending sense of humor. Betty will be deeply missed by so many who’s lives she touched. She was a giving person and loved spending time with her grandchildren, her face would beam with joy when they were together.
Betty is survived by her three sons: Todd Fairchild and wife Mary-Beth; Jeffrey Fairchild and wife Jennie, sons Ryan, Joshua, Connor and Tyler; Jonathan Fairchild and sons Noah and Griffin.
Thank you to the dedicated staff at West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care and compassion they provided over the past several years. A funeral service will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hartford on July 17, 2021 at 10:00 am, a memorial garden burial will follow and an opportunity for fellowship.
