Bertha ‘Berdie’ Eleanor Fitzgerald, 94, of West Hartford, beloved wife for 68 years, of the late Joseph M. Fitzgerald, passed away peacefully on September 28, at home. She was born in Ely, MN; she was the daughter of the late Otto A. Harju and Adela (Mikkula) Harju. She was a resident of West Hartford since 1961. She was employed by CIGNA for 24 years. She is survived by daughter Colleen Fitzgerald; son-in-law, Howard Canistraro; three grandchildren, Dylan, H. Charley, and Molly Bodkin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her husband Joseph; by her daughters Kathleen Fitzgerald and Mary (Fitzgerald) Bodkin; by her siblings Wesley, Helmi, Phyllis, and Wilbert.
Family and friends may call at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, CT, on Saturday, October 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St Mark the Evangelist Church, 464 S.
