Obituary for Bernard "Bernie" Lew
Bernard “Bernie” P. Lew of West Hartford, Connecticut passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the age of 78.
Bernie was born in China and immigrated to the United States in 1966. He graduated from St Louis School in Hong Kong in 1964 and graduated from Suffolk University in Boston in 1970. He moved to Hartford, Connecticut as he finished his studies at Suffolk and subsequently to West Hartford, where he resided for the last 38 years.
While at Suffolk, Bernie interned at St Francis Hospital in Hartford and upon graduation he took on a full-time role as a Medical Technologist there. He worked at St Francis for the entirety of his career before retiring in 2010 after nearly 40 years on the job. He loved to shop, was a weekend DIYer and an avid gardener.
Bernie is survived by his son Anthony Lew; his son and daughter-in-law Jason and Jane Lew; his grandchildren Kaitlin and Brandon Lew; his sisters Nancy Lee and Lynda Leung; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by both his parents and sister Joyce Cheng.
