Obituary for Barbara A. (LeMire) Wallace

Barbara A. (LeMire) Wallace, 88, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. She was born and raised in Springfield, MA to Archie and Cecilia LeMire, and lived in West Hartford, CT for over 60 years. She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Malmborg, and is predeceased by three siblings:  Robert LeMire, Doris Smith and Donald LeMire.

Barbara was married to John F. Wallace Jr. for 38 years and missed him dearly every day since he passed in 1997. Barbara is predeceased by her son-in-law, Samuel Sohn, and is survived by her four children:  Michael F. Wallace (Caryn) of Bloomfield, CT, Richard J. Wallace of West Hartford, CT, Nancy Wallace-Sohn of West Hartford, CT, and Lynn Reen (Kevin) of Swampscott, MA. She also leaves nine grandchildren whom she deeply adored:  Ashley Fisher of Bethesda, MD., Cheyenne Wallace of Bloomfield, CT, Blake Wallace of College Park, MD., Gabriella, Brayden, Cecilia and Emerson Sohn of West Hartford, CT, and Jack and Seamus Reen of Swampscott, MA.

Barbara’s biggest life accomplishment was her family. Anyone who knew her was grateful for her unwavering friendship and loyalty. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family sharing a meal, playing games or telling stories. She had a gentle and easy demeanor with a sharp sense of humor, and she was fiercely competitive – never wanting to lose a card game! She faced several medical challenges in the past years through which she continued to demonstrate her eternal strength and determination. We would like to sincerely thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers who provided her exceptional care and for their love, kindness and support.
