Barbara’s funeral arrangements will be private, for family only, at the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford on Thursday, (March 30) at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.

Barbara was a loving, caring and compassionate person whose greatest joy was being the most devoted mother. She dedicated herself to her family providing a lovely home for 26 years in West Hartford and later in Avon for 32 years. She loved cooking gourmet meals for family gatherings and had a heart that never stopped giving. She was beautiful inside and out, enjoyed being fashionably dressed and loved treating her grandchildren on shopping trips and making “bunny bread” at Easter. She had a great wit and a delightful sense of humor. Barbara was fiercely intelligent, selfless and kind and early on enjoyed golfing at Wampanoag Country Club and later playing bridge at The Hartford Bridge Club, who after years of excellence became a Silver Life Master. She excelled at crossword puzzles and a variety of creative pursuits including sewing, knitting, floral arranging at her bridge club, playing piano, being an accomplished artist, a gifted writer, gardener and a do-it-yourself handy woman!

Barbara loved her family deeply and left an indelible impression on all those who met her. We will forever love and miss her with all our hearts. We wish to thank the caring staff at Jefferson House in Newington where she received exceptional care in her final months, for which we are eternally grateful. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
