Obituary for Anne P. Fritze

Anne P. Fritze, of Farmington, reunited, in heaven, with her beloved late husband George J. Fritze. She passed peacefully and with grace, surrounded by family, at home, on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

Born in Hartford on May 4, 1925, daughter of the late John and Frances Parcinski, she was a lifelong resident of the area, and of Farmington the past 65 years. She excelled in school and was a graduate of Hartford High School. She met and married the love of her life, George, and together they began a family filled with love, laughter, and fond memories that those left behind will never forget. Her hard work and intellect saw her succeed in her career. At a time when women were not easily included in the management ranks, she held several supervisory positions at The Hartford Insurance Company, culminating in her being named Manager of the Claims Division, until she retired. A very spiritual person, Anne was not only an active communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Farmington, but found ways to share her faith and help others to foster their own as a member of the Lady’s Guild and as an instructor in the parish’s CCD program.

With a love of her community and a desire to be an active member of it, Anne found numerous ways to get involved in the town she called home. She enjoyed working with young people in town as a youth mentor; she was a vocal and enthusiastic member of the Farmington Valley Women’s Club, never missing an opportunity to support any activity they had planned; she enjoyed being active in sports as a member of the Tunxis Women’s Golf Club, several bowling leagues, and bridge clubs; she gave back through various charity organizations, including Meals On Wheels and volunteering to drive the elderly to doctor’s appointments (which she did well into her 80s, often driving people younger than herself); and she was a member of The Red Hat Society. Anne knew that life was for living…she squeezed every drop out of a wonderful 97 years, all the while helping to enrich the lives of all those around her.

Amongst many dear friends and extended family members, Anne leaves a daughter, Patricia F. Hollingsworth of Concord, NC and daughter and son-in-law Georgeanne and Jack Berg of Trumbull. Her infectious spirit lives on in her six devoted and loving grandchildren, Brian Berg and wife Melissa, Reading, MA, Drew Berg and wife Erin, North Easton, MA, Garrett Berg and wife Caitlin, New York, NY, Fritze-Leigh Batts, Concord, NC, Amanda Wise and husband Will, Charlotte, NC, and Elizabeth Anne Hollingsworth, Charlotte, NC. Anne’s legacy can be heard in the joyful noise and laughter of nine great-grandchildren, whose love for her was only matched by her love of them, Caroline and Dylan Batts, Aidan, George, Haley, Deacon, Nolan, Hazel and Bennett Berg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, (February 25th) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 110 Main Street, Farmington, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. Calling hours will be Friday, (February 24th) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.

Anne was a generous and devoted supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of these non-profits, or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
