Obituary for Anne Marie (Lyons) DeCapua

Anne Marie (Lyons) DeCapua, 90, of Wethersfield, joined her beloved late husband, Mario DeCapua Jr. on January 2, 2024.

Born in Hartford, to Leo F. Lyons and Antonette (Francolini) Lyons, Anne Marie attended Kennelly School (South West School) and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy. Anne Marie and Mario both graduated from Hartt College of Music of the University of Hartford with Music Education Degrees. She was awarded a Master of Education Degree from the University of Hartford, School of Education. Anne Marie taught piano for 30 years in the Hartford neighborhood where they made their home, was an assistant organist for St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Hartford for 30 years, and was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. She was a substitute teacher for many years in Newington as well. Anne Marie and Mario traveled extensively to Italy, Europe, UK, Alaska, Hawaii, and most of the US. She was an avid Boston Red Sox and UConn Women’s Basketball fan.

Anne Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Maryanne Karimian as well as her husband, Mario. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Janet DeCapua; her grandchildren, Matthew and Alyssa DeCapua, Parisa and Daniel Karimian; and her wonderful son-in-law, Reza Karimian and his wife Carol. Anne Marie also leaves her goddaughter, Joan Lennzen, and her close friend, Christine Golazewski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, at St. Mary Church, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington. Burial will be private.
