Obituary for Ann (Dorbuck) Celio

Ann (Dorbuck) Celio, 90, of Wethersfield, wife of the late James V. Celio, to whom she was married for 57 years, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, surrounded by her family at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford.

Ann was the only child of the late Albert B. and Mary (Boczulak) Dorbuck, born on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 1933.

She leaves behind her loving son and caregiver Charles A. Celio, with whom she made her home, her daughter Carol Ann Celio and her grandson James V. Celio and his fiancé Kimberley Beaulieu, along with her “grand-dog” Harley, all of Wethersfield; her sister-in-law, Angela Celio, of Newington; her niece, Dr. Sherry Catania and wife Vera, of Groton; her niece, Lisa (Catania) Curakovic and husband Marin, of Rocky Hill; and special cousins, James and Tina Celio and Family, of Hebron.

Ann graduated from Bulkeley High School, Hartford, in 1952 and worked in the Insurance business for many years, namely for Aetna Fire Insurance (Little Aetna) and Cigna Insurance Company. Ann also worked for the Wethersfield Board of Education, the family business called Nott Street Market and later she worked for Jim’s Pilot House Snack Bar in Ferry Landing, Rocky Hill. Ann and her parents moved to Wethersfield in 1956. It was there that she met Jimmy and married “the boy across the street” in October of 1958. Retiring at the age of 58, Jimmy and Ann began enjoying winters in Pompano Beach, FL for many years.

Ann was proud of her Polish and Lithuanian heritage. She was an excellent polka dancer and ballroom dancer. She loved cooking and baking, playing “her music” and crocheting. Most especially Ann enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.

The Celio Family would like to thank St. Francis Hospital 10-9 nurses and doctors for the wonderful compassionate care that was given.
