Obituary for Angelina V. Madalena

Angelina V. Madalena, 89, of East Hampton, beloved wife of the late Joao Madalena and daughter of the late Maria Vasconcelos and Joao Vieira Ambrosio, passed away Friday, June 23, 2023, surrounded by her family. 

Born in Madeira, Portugal, Angelina moved to Venezuela in 1955, where she married her husband and had their five children. The family moved to the US in 1970. Angelina worked at Aetna and retired after 24 years of service. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Hartford. Those that knew her knew how much she enjoyed her family, and they admired her unwavering faith. She enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her beautiful roses.  She also enjoyed the many gatherings with extended family singing and playing cards. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Angelina was predeceased by her son John V. Madalena and 13 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Madalena, Fatima and her husband Jeff LaChance, Isabel, and her husband Ron DeMartino, all of East Hampton; her son, Manny and his wife Fatima Madalena of South Windsor; her grandchildren: Tyler and Brandon LaChance; Nicole, Jenna, and Olivia DeMartino; Kyle, Cory, and Kelsey Madalena and her two sisters, Maria Rodrigues of Miami Florida and Maria Conceicao Pereira of West Hartford. 

Calling hours will be Thursday, (June 29) from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Kane Street, Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
