Obituary for Amilcar Ferreira

Amilcar Ferreira
Amilcar Ferreira, 78, of Newington, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 27, 2017, surrounded by loved ones, after fighting his battle with cancer. Amilcar was born in Mira de Aire, Portugal, he came to the United States in 1976 with his wife, Maria Lucia (Calado) Ferreira of 55 years and has lived in Newington for 27 years. He was an active member of the Portuguese community and loved by all. He was employed at Hanson - Whitney for many years. Amilcar was a member of the Hartford Portuguese Club and Our Lady of Fatima Church.
He leaves behind his three daughters, Madalena Magalhaes and her husband Antonio of Newington, Ilda Ferreira Rosa and her husband Rui of West Hartford and Sandra Ferreira of New Britain. Amilcar cherished his seven grandchildren: Sara, Stephanie, Sophia, Alex, Marisa, Vanessa and John. He is also survived by his sisters, Maria Salome Lavado of West Hartford and Isabel Patinha of Rocky Hill.
Funeral procession will be Monday,(May 1), 9:00 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours will be Sunday, (April 30), from 3 to 5 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Our Lady of Fatima Church. A Seven Day Mass will be Thursday, May 4, 7:00 pm at the Church.
