Obituary for Alida Lucretia Cervantes

On February 2, 2021, Alida Lucretia Cervantes, 88, a long time West Hartford resident, departed from this world. Alida arrived in the United States from Lima, Peru, in April of 1958, along with her parents Albert and Catalina (Solari) Thuillard, and two siblings Esther and Luis.

Alida began to work right away as a dressmaker and was proud of the fact that she worked for herself as she enjoyed the challenges and successes of being self employed. Alida excelled in her dressmaking endeavors, she was very talented in her area of expertise. “Nena” was equally at home entertaining, cooking great Peruvian meals for her many friends as they enjoyed her witty, outgoing, and joyful personality. Of course, many times the get-togethers included a time for dancing which was part of Alida's makeup. A devoted daughter, Nena took care of her loving mother, Catalina Solari Thuillard, in the last years of her life, doing so with love and compassion.

She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Catalina Thuillard, (long time Torrington residents), and her biological father Victor Manuel Cervantes Carrasco, of Lima, Peru.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing a sister, Esther Thuillard and her husband Daniel, and their daughter Sophie all of La Tour de Peilz, Switzerland. Also a brother Luis Thuillard, his wife Peggy (Cicero) Thuillard, and their children, Candace Cooper Gates of Hartford, Carla Cooper of East Hartford, April Dillon of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Ruben Thuillard of Windsor, as well as several cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, (February 6), 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 872 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford. Burial will take place in the spring at the Torringford Cemetery, Torrington, CT.
