Joseph Joaquim, 81, of East Hartford, passed away on May 9, 2016. Born in Sazes da Beira, Portugal, son of the late Manuel 'Argentino' and Maria Joaquim, and moved to the Hartford area in 1947. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was a U. S. Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Fernanda Maria (Canelas) Joaquim and two daughters Leonore Joaquim of East Hartford, and Elizabeth Marques and her husband Antonio of Newington; one sister Florinda Reis and her husband Amador of Rocky Hill; two grandchildren Jason and Briana Marques, and also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Maria da Nazare, and brother-in-law Carlos Mendes.

The funeral procession will be Friday, May 13 at 9:15 a.m. from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Burial will follow with military honors in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 12 from 5-8 p.m.
