He passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by family. Salvatore was born on January 6, 1926, in Floridia, Sicily, to Giuseppe and Giuseppa (Fiume) DiNatale. At age 10, Salvatore and his family moved to Benghazi, Libya, and there he obtained his high school diploma. In the year 1942, he moved back to Sicily and enlisted into the Italian Navy. In the Navy, Salvatore received an electrician’s license in Trieste, near Milan, and graduated at the top of his class. Five years later, he moved to Barquisimeto, Venezuela, in search of work. There, he met the love of his life, Ana Liscano. After seven years of dating, the two married on April 7, 1956. A few years later, they welcomed their two beautiful daughters, Clarisa Josephine and Mariela Josephine. In June of 1962, Salvatore’s family moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where he worked as a bricklayer. Prior to the family’s move to West Hartford, they welcomed their son, Joseph Felix. Until his retirement in 1991, Salvatore worked at Fafnir Bearing and Wiremold Company as a maintenance worker for 20 years. After his retirement, he took full joy in taking care of his grandchildren.

Salvatore lived a fulfilled life and was very dedicated to his family. He can be remembered by his fun-loving personality and welcomed everyone into his home by saying “la porta e sempre aberta” (the door is always open). He loved to garden, make a fresh sauce, and bake his famous yellow cake. He stayed active living on his own up until last year.
