Obituary for Eleanor Caroline Hamilton (Lorenz)

Eleanor Caroline (Lorenz) Hamilton, 95, of West Hartford, passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in her home. Born In N.Y., N.Y. to the late Anne (Wynne) and Albert C. Lorenz. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Alfred J. Hamilton, her grand-daughters Alexandra Hamilton Graham, Jennifer Reardon Hamilton and her brother Albert Lorenz. She is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, William and Mary-Beth, Kenneth and Diane, Neal and Suzan and Matthew; her daughter Patricia; and brother James.
She will be missed by her beloved grandchildren: Victoria, Jane, Katherine, Jaclyn, Jourdan, Sarah, William, Sydney, Mitchell, Elizabeth and Ellen; great-grandchildren: Brooke, Ciara, Roger, Owen, Neil and Avery; many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor attended Hunter College and was a graduate of the University of Hartford.
She worked as an accountant for A.J. Hamilton Co., Inc. and Air Equipment, LLC.
Eleanor was very active in the West Hartford Republican Party and Women’s Club, she was a Trustee of the Robinson School of West Hartford, an American Red-Cross First-Aid Instructor, an active artist, involved in the West Hartford Art League and the Opera Guild of Hartford. During WWII, Eleanor served with the American Red Cross, the USO and the Cathedral of St. Patrick, NYC. Eleanor’s vibrant spirit shall be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Funeral procession will be Saturday, 9:15 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
